Event Details:
This free two day educational event will celebrate diversity, equality, and inclusion. It will be thought provoking and solution focused, with lots of fun sprinkled throughout. Our panelists are passionate speakers from various ethnic backgrounds, touching on topics such as the effects of stereotyping & microaggressions, personal journeys, struggles and success. Interviews with community members will inspire creative ideas on how to build a more diverse and inclusive region. Indulge in a number of entertaining cultural performances.
We will end this event with an educational and powerful virtual Blanket Exercise. A workshop that explores the nation-to-nation relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. The exercise helps people to understand how the colonization of this land impacts those who were here long before settlers arrived. It engages people’s minds and hearts in understanding why the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples is often broken and how we can take action together. This practical exercise will help people understand many things about Indigenous peoples.
